Activities
When we look back at our own schooldays, often our fondest memories and those things that helped to define and mould our interests and personalities were the activities and hobbies with which we busied ourselves outside of lessons.
Enthusiasm and success are infectious. A child's belief in him or herself and success in the classroom so often have roots somewhere quite different. An integral part of childhood and a vital aspect of growing up is pushing yourself to, and sometimes beyond, your own limits.
We want our pupils to grow and develop with a breadth of interests and experiences that will bring a richness and diversity to their lives and who they are.
Much is achieved through our broad and challenging curriculum but there is so much more.
Our wide-ranging club and activity program allows pupils to pursue particular interests with passion and perseverance.
In addition to the after-school activities, the boarding pupils have a full programme of activities after boarders tea at 6pm and at weekends.
Holidays
Holiday clubs for art and sport are often run by school staff. Parents are advised during the preceding term and invited to subscribe as appropriate.
School trips
From time to time, the pupils are taken on trips to support the work they are doing in the classroom. The majority of these trips are included within the fees but for a small number a charge may be made. Major trips in recent years have included the following:
Year 5
- Outward bound trip to Mill on the Brue for a day
Year 6
- Outward bound weekend trip to Kilve Court
Year 7
- RE trip to Wintershall to see re-enactment of the life of Christ
- Outward bound week long trip to the River Dart
Year 8
