Bastion project progresses well
Pupils returned to Hazlegrove this week and were excited to see that work on the Bastion pitches is progressing well. It does not look like it will be long now before the new pitches will be in use.
Fourteen pupils go to the IAPS Athletics National Finals
We were delighted that fourteen children qualified for the National Prep Schools Championships, which took place in Birmingham.
We returned with 3 medals - 2nd place in the U12 High jump - Ignacio B, 2nd place in the U12 Javelin - Bella T and a National Champion in the U14 High Jump - Tim K. All of our athletes competed well and were a real credit to the school.
The horse riders have had a busy term...
The horse riders have had a busy term. Many after-school sessions with Miss Andrews have been enjoyed by those children lucky enough to have their own ponies. Highlights of the term include going to the Stonar Inter-school ODE, the Blackmore and Sparkford Vale PC JAS (Jumping And Style) competition, cross-country schooling at Toomer Farm and a fun day at Sparkford to finish off the term.
Sports Day
This has been an outstanding term filled with wonderful successes. Sports Day was the highlight of the term with all children competing in such fine spirit for their houses. This year Tremlett took the trophy but watch out, the other houses are now out to knock them off that top spot next year.
Tommy Baker visits Hazlegrove
On the last Saturday of term Hazlegrove pupils were treated to a diplay of basketball skills by Tommy Baker with opportunities for the children to take part.
This was then followed by a series of workshops with the children.
IAPS Swimming Nationals
Well done to the Hazlegrove swimmers for their achievements at the IAPS National Swimming finals in Crawley.
Sports news round-up, 30 April 10
Well done to Marissa and Bronte who came 2nd and 3rd in the athletics County Multi Events Championships. We have also had a good start to the cricket and rounders season.
Cricket, cricket and fantasy cricket
The Hazlegrove boys have welcomed the start of the cricket season. The nets are out, the pitch looks great and the sun has been shining. Not only are they able to play cricket but they are also able to enjoy fantasy cricket too!
A running start
Hazlegrove pupils got the term off to a running start with the inter-house cross-country competition.

Top groundsman returns to South West
Hazlegrove is delighted to welcome David Beckett back to the West Country to look after its extensive sports facilities and gardens.
U12 girls' hockey IAPS National success
The U12 girls' hockey team had a great day up at the National IAPS Finals coming 3rd nationally.
Win or lose - rugby heroes to the end
The two 2nd XV rugby team players having been awarded Heroes for "most improved tackling" and "best try saving tackle of the day".
South West Schools' Biathlon
Hazlegrove children and staff were out yet again on Sunday braving the weather at the South West Schools' Biathlon run by Pentathlon GB at Millfield. The team and individual medals they took home with them made the day!
U12 girls qualify for IAPS Hockey Nationals
The U12 girls are thrilled to be through to the National Finals of the IAPS Hockey Tournament.
A great week for U9 and U10 girls' hockey
The U9 and U10 Hazlegrove girls both had reason to celebrate when they won hockey tournaments last week.

The U12 girls were thrown in at the deep end with a hockey tournament on the first day back at school!
