We feel it important to give every child in the school an opportunity to ‘tread the boards’. You can see some pictures from our many productions in the drama gallery.
Every child is involved in a major production in the Theatre every year starting in the Pre-Prep. The pattern of productions is as follows:
The Pre-Prep Harvest Assembly involving everyone from the Nursery to Year 2 is a special Autumn Term assembly held in the Theatre.
The Nursery Tableau and the Pre-Prep Nativity Play are held at the end of the Autumn Term.
The Year 1 and Year 2 Group Reviews are usually held during the course of the Summer Term
The Lower School
The Lower School Musical is held during the first half of the Spring Term. The Year 4 pupils have the main acting roles and the Year 3 pupils are involved as the chorus line, participating in the choreographed routines. Middle and Upper School
From Year 5 the productions alternate between straight drama and musical productions.

Prior to that, productions have included Samson in 2010, Ebeneezer in 2009, Mulan in 2008, Aladdin in 2007 and Blast Off in 2006.

Once Year 8 have finished their Common Entrance Examinations it's all hands to the decks to put on a final show. Time is always short and nerves are always pushed to the limit to ensure that pupils leave Hazlegrove on a high! Recent Year 8 musicals have been:
Prior to that, productions included West Side Story in 2010, Oklahoma in 2009, Disco Inferno in 2008 - a 1970's rock musical, Oliver in 2007 and That's Entertainment in 2006 - an all-singing, all-dancing show featuring the musicals of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Rodgers and Hammerstein, Chicago, Les Miserables and Grease.
