DT projects make practical and useful solutions at home

DT projects make practical and useful solutions at home

art and dt

Year 7 have had an introduction to metal working recently and have been designing and making coat hook/medal holders in DT.

The children cut, shaped, drilled and polished their own hooks out of aluminium and mild steel then designed their backboard.

All of the outcomes were totally unique to the children and based on their own interests and how they would use their product. Some of the children heated and shaped horse shoes into hooks, mirrored Rosset holders, some included light-emitting acrylic and some also functioned as a shelf.

One of the best compliments to DT and a sign that we are getting the projects just right for the children is to see them being used at home - which is why I was so delighted to see this one made by Phoebe C being put to such good use!

Mrs Barton.
