Boarding

100 Hazlegrove boarders enjoyed a fabulous weekend of activities around school and at nearby Cadbury Castle with perfect weather for the start-of-term in weekend.

Venison burgers, hallumi cheese kebabs, steak, prawns and calamari were all on the menu for our BBQ on Saturday evening. We enjoyed this scrumptious meal on the lawn, in the early evening sunset. A perfect way to end a day filled with cricket, rounders, and all the activities on offer around the school. The children who were not in matches had the choice of a swim, making a bug hotel, gardening, laser tag and a spot of relaxing in the Chill Tent!

Sunday was to be as enjoyable. Sunshine, plenty of space, dedicated staff and lovely children, make for a recipe of pure unadulterated fun! Mr Beverley delivered yet another inspiring sermon in Chapel and after the letters were written, we headed off to the four corners of the school.

Fun on the go-kart track

There are few places that could match Hazlegrove in the summer sun. The children were racing the go-karts around a dry track (much to the racing-purists delight), making friendship bracelets, cooking jam tarts, putting on the practice green, chilling in the tent…to mention just a few of the activities on offer before lunch.

After a delicious roast, the water slide came out. Mr Holden did a sterling job at the helm for his first water-slide experience. French cricket and Frisbees made their comeback (Old school style!) and the children really embraced all that was on offer. Just when they thought the day was over, the ice cream van rattled over the cattle grill. Mr Whirly was a hit! After our ice-creams, the children played in the woods, the pool and on the fields and many joined in a cricket tournament on the Bastion.

Slippery times on the water slide

We had a super weekend and the children were fantastic company. The food was top-notch and the weather certainly helped…By Sunday evening, we had a boarding community tired for the right reasons ready to enjoy a good night’s sleep.
