Boarders visit a Deer Rescue Centre

Fairy house creations in the art room, woods and dance were a few of the Saturday activities that kick-started another fun weekend for our boarders. Films and tuck in the evening gave the children some well-earned rest and relaxation.

Sunday saw us all heading out to the Deer Rescue Centre, near Crewkerne. Despite the bitterly cold wind, the children delighted in seeing so many different deer and everyone had the chance to get up close to them, feeding them digestive biscuits along the way. Seeing the huge stags and being able to pat them was a real highlight for the children. One of the deer called Misty had a regal and mysterious air about her as she was quite famous for having been on the BBC film Merlin. Along the way many deer jokes were shared by the children. The most popular one was, what do you call a deer with one eye? Answer: I have no eye deer!

Back at school we warmed up with soup and rolls before embarking on the next round of  activities: banana bread baking, woodland games with damper bread by the fire, deer art and gymnastic themed sports hall games. The children's all time favourite, Dover Patrol, ended another action packed weekend here at Hazlegrove.
