Music General

What a wonderful evening we had with singing carols with the orchestra!  It was a great opportunity to get everyone into voice for the carol service and a wonderful end to the programme of concerts for the term.  These have numbered 12 in total including special Boarders’, Lower School, Pre-Prep and the Joint Schools’ concerts as well as the regular Friday concerts.

In addition to all the Hazlegrove children playing their instruments, we welcomed a number of children from King’s Bruton, staff from both schools and a parent to the orchestra.  Conducted by Miss Sayles and led by Amelia W, we enjoyed singing a lovely selection of carols including Silent Night accompanied by the Ukulele Group (with guest appearance from Mr Fenwick).  We were also treated to a fantastic performance of Jingle Bell Bossa Nova by the Swing Band.

The orchestra performed brilliantly all evening and the assembled parents and friends were certainly in good voice.  The evening was of course rounded off by some delicious mince pies and a warming glass of mulled wine (adults only!).

We now look forward to the Carol Service in Wells Cathedral on Thursday morning to finish off the term.
