Yesterday, Onatti Productions returned to Hazlegrove and performed another funny and entertaining French play called “Parlez-vous français”.

The Year 5 to 8 pupils found the play very funny and understood most of what was said. Half of the play was in French and the other half was in English: the aim was to reassure the children and make sure they follow the play from the beginning to the end. It was very pleasing to receive so much positive feedback from all the children who realised they knew quite a lot of French.

The plot was as the follows:

This is Ben's first ever school trip, his first ever trip to France and his first time skiing.

He is known at school as the “class clown” so it comes as no surprise to learn that on his first day on the slops his over-enthusiasm ends in an accident, hurting himself so badly that a trip to hospital is needed.

His French teacher accompanies him but as soon as they arrive she is called away to deal with another emergency on the slopes. Ben is left to struggle on his own and soon realises nobody in the hospital speaks English.

The afternoon goes from awkward to embarrassing as Ben struggles to communicate with the nurse!
