What a wealth of activities the children experienced on our day out to Hooke Court in Dorset this week. They were fully immersed in Tudor life, baking biscuits flavoured with spices traded by Tudor explorers, weaving wool that would have been used for clothes and blankets and making little leather pouches to carry their precious possessions. In a Tudor school, they also learnt to write in a ‘Tudor script’ using black ink, sealing their work with sealing wax, as well as enjoying a huge variety of Tudor games, many of which we still play today.

These activities took place in a restored Tudor house complete with a log fire and a wonderful aroma of herbs and spices!

The children returned bursting with a real sense of Tudor life both at home and at sea.
