Geography fieldwork for Year 8 at Lulworth Cove

Academic Trips

Last Friday, Year 8 headed off to Lulworth Cove for an action packed day of geography fieldwork.

Is excessive tourist activity damaging the landscape around Lulworth and Durdle Door? That is the question we will be answering in our Common Entrance write up, which contributes 20% of the overall mark in geography. We collected a wealth of data to help answer this question, from measuring footpath erosion to interviewing relevant people. Landscape evaluations and other surveys were conducted at a range of sites to determine whether facilities have been developed sensitively or not.

The weather was beautiful, thankfully, and the spectacular coastal landforms were enjoyed by all, as we learnt what erosional processes caused them to form. Time was even found to enjoy a Marshfield Farm ice cream before we rushed back to Hazlegrove!

It was an excellent day.
