Application Forms may be completed at any stage of the admissions process and submitted to the Admissions Office together with the application fee as stated on the form.
If you wish to pay the application fee by bank transfer the school's bank details can be found by clicking here.
Completing an Application Form will place your child's name on the list for entry, subject to our usual admissions requirements. Please be aware, from time to time we may be operating waiting lists in some year groups for day or boarding places.
The Admissions Office will acknowledge receipt of all Applications Forms and applications will be considered in order of receipt.
Early application is recommended
It is not necessary for you to complete an application form before your child joins us for a taster day. However, as places are limited you may wish to complete one sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment, particularly for entry into the Prep School.
The joining process can be summarised as follows:
For Nursery children and those joining the Reception class in September (4 year olds)
If you are applying for a place in the Nursery, we recommend you specify the earliest date you would like us to consider offering a place to your child. We realise that every child develops at a different pace and that you may decide your child is not quite ready to take on the challenges of Nursery life exactly when planned! The Head of Nursery will be more than happy to discuss with you the best time for your child to start in our Nursery. A formal offer of a place can be made once a start date has been agreed.
There is no need to apply for a place in the Reception class if your child is already in our Nursery - transfer is assumed subject to the School's Terms and Conditions.
If you would like your child to join our Reception class when they are four years old, you may complete an application form now for entry at the appropriate time. We will invite you to bring them to meet a member of the Pre-Prep staff before we make any formal offer of a place. This meeting may take place at any mutually convenient time during the academic year preceding entry or can be via attendance at our Squirrels Parent and Toddler group.
A taster day at the school for children aged 5 and above
Children aged five and above are required to attend Hazlegrove for a day, and possibly a night (for prospective boarding pupils), at the school. This way, they can get a feel for the school and have the chance to meet other pupils in their year group. During the day a short academic assessment will take place. This is not a test which needs to be passed (or indeed practised for) but we do need to ensure that pupils joining us will be able to take on the challenges of the 13+ Common Entrance Curriculum by the time they reach the Upper School (Years 7 & 8).
An offer of a place will usually be made following a taster day, to pupils satisfying the standard admissions requirements. However, on occasions where we have considerable demand for limited spaces in a year group, we reserve the right to delay making any offer until later in the academic year.
If your child is unable to visit Hazlegrove for a taster day or you would like a provisional offer prior to your child attending for a taster day, please contact the Head of Admissions (01963 442606) to discuss your application.
Accepting an offer of a place
Once the offer of a place has been made by the school, the place can be secured by completing the Acceptance Form, accepting the School’s Terms and Conditions as detailed in the Parent / School Contract. An Application Form should also be completed at this stage if it has not already been completed.
An Acceptance Deposit is payable when accepting the offer of a place. This is held by the school and credited against the final payment of fees or other sums due to the school on leaving. See the Terms and Conditions for further details.
An Additional Deposit is payable in addition to the Acceptance Deposit by the parents of pupils whose normal residence is outside of the United Kingdom. See the Terms and Conditions for further details.
Acceptance Forms are sent with the letter offering a place and must be returned to the Admissions Office within the time limit specified. Forms received subsequently will still be considered, but where there are limited spaces in a year group we reserve the right to offer the place to another family.
